One Second for the Biggest 'Record' in Baseball - Signs of Bad Days to Come for Barry Bonds
Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 12:08PM MAJOR BLOGS - www.majorblogs.net - If anyone is wondering whether the Commissioner of Baseball, Bud Light, will now purge Barry Bonds home run chase from the record books, a hint from the Baseball Kremlin was released today by way of the always politically-correct highlights videos of MLB.com.
Played at the MLB Rule 5 Draft at the 2007 Winter Meetings today were two highlights reels. One was of the 2007 baseball season, and the other was of 2007 records.
Bonds was completely absent from the first video, and, for the alleged single greatest record in the game, received all of a one second clip of the back of his uniform during the "season records" video.
With the Mitchell Report waiting in the wings, and the very low tone that the official news mouthpiece of MLB is taking, the writing is definitely on the wall for Bonds to have his record potentially stripped. The Commish left the door open to that possibility in the statement that was prepared prior to Bonds 'breaking' of Hank Aaron's all-time home run record.
