Hanson wins 2008 AFL MVP
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 01:48AM MAJOR BLOGS - www.majorblogs.net - Las Vegas, NV - Tommy Hanson, featured in MLN's recent AFL piece, was named the 2008 recipient of the Arizona Fall League's Joe Black MVP Award. Pitching for the Mesa Solar Sox, the right-hander led the AFL in victories (5), ERA (0.63) and strikeouts (49).
Hanson, an Atlanta Braves farmhand, is the first pitcher in Fall League history to take home the MVP honors.
During the 2008 regular season, the 22-year-old hurler recorded an 11-5 record and a 2.41 ERA pitching for the high-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the Double-A Mississippi Braves.
