Taking Aspirin Daily

Medication is quite the powerful stuff in this day and age. Aspirin is one of those medications and it is out there for the world. However there is one question that might be asked. Do you want to be on a daily aspirin regime? Should women take aspirin daily? Should men take aspirin every day? It is really up to the individual in the end. For some people it is recommended, but for others it is not. Nothing should be done without consulting your doctor first. Yes there are the benefits and again there are the risks. Let’s see what they are.

One major benefit on taking a daily aspirin regime is that it can prevent and reduce the risk of heart attack. How does aspirin reduce the risks of heart attack? Aspirin goes hand in hand with blood clotting. Platelets form whenever you experience a wound on your body. They seal your wound so the bleeding stops. Basically you will not bleed to death.  But this process can sometimes be deadly in regards to your heart. Some blood clots can block an artery and therefore prevent blood from getting to the heart. Therefore you suffer a heart attack. Aspirin can break up the platelets that form in the area and prevent the heart attack from occurring.

So now here comes the question again. Should you take aspirin every day? You might want to take a daily aspirin regime if you are at risk for a heart attack, already had a heart attack, or if you are between 50- 60 years of age with certain health conditions like for example diabetes or chronic pain. Aspirin can also be used for headaches and fever in moderation. Again discuss with your doctor if the course of action will be right for you. Never start any kind of medication on your own.

Once you start your daily aspirin intake, you should be aware of some of the possible side effects. You can experience side effects such as hearing loss, stroke, or even a severe allergic reaction. It is also advised that you do not take the aspirin with alcohol, as it should be with all medication.

In regards to dosage, your doctor will give the recommended dosage. It is different for each person. The average range is from 81-325 mg. Some recommended doses can be even 75 mg which is considered to be a weak form of aspirin. 325 mg is said to a pretty strong tablet. Again it depends on your need and what the doctor says is right.

So if you are considering a daily aspirin intake, take in all the options first and discuss with your doctor. See if it will be right for you.
